Changes to Cashback Rewards for the Scotiabank Momentum Visa Infinite+ on Oct 22, 2026

What's changing for Scotia Momentum Visa Infinite cashback rates on Chexy payments as of October 22, 2026, which payments still earn 4%, and how to switch cards.
What's changing?
On October 22, 2026, Scotiabank is changing the 4% cashback rewards on certain payments using the Scotiabank Momentum Visa Infinite+ card.
The following payments will now earn 1% cashback:
- Rent
- Household expenses
- Condo and strata fees
- Property tax
- Income tax (CRA, Revenu Québec)
The following payments are the only payments that will continue to earn 4% cashback:
- Utilities
- Car lease
- Daycare
- Tuition (Schools & K-12, and University)
- Insurance
- Wellness & gym
- Phone & telecommunications
When will this change happen?
This change is taking into effect on October 22, 2026. This means that October 21, 2026 is the last day that a charge to your card will earn 4% cashback on rent, condo fees, property tax, and income tax. Charges on or after October 22 earn 1%. What matters is the date your card is charged, not your payment's due date.
For example, if you have a November 1st rent payment with a card charge date of October 28, it will no longer qualify for 4% cashback and will earn 1% instead.
How will I know which of my payments are affected?
If you're currently using a Scotiabank Momentum Visa Infinite+ card, you'll see a prompt when you log in (see image). You can also visit app.chexy.co/scotia-card-change.
This will show you which payments are impacted by the change. From there, we'll help you switch these payments to another card on file. We'll make sure the switch is scheduled for October 22, so you can keep earning 4% cashback for as long as possible.
Otherwise, you can take your time picking the best credit card for you, and follow these steps at any time to switch your payments to a new card:
- In your dashboard, open the payment (it should be in the "Upcoming" section), then press Edit.
- In the "Card" section at the bottom, pick a card you've already linked, or add a new card.
If I switch my card, will anything change for my landlord or person I'm paying?
No. Switching the card you pay with only changes how you fund the payment. Your landlord, municipality, or biller receives the payment exactly the same way, on the same schedule.
